World Book Day

We’ll be holding our World Book Day celebrations on Friday 29th March.

Everyone is encouraged to remember the books they have loved by dressing up as a favourite character. Also, the Enterprise and Communications Ministry will be running a book stall. Please bring any good books, which you no longer want to keep. On the day you will be able to restock your book shelves by buying some new books at very cheap prices.

I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities for reading books and talking about books and maybe even adding some reviews to this blog!

Diary of the Wimpy Kid: Dog Day by Jeff Kinney

This book is about a boy in high school and he has only has one friend called Rowely. Its a very easy book to read, and has lots of illustrations. its a hilarious book and always has some sort of joke. Its written in a diary format and people who have read Dork Diaries might like this book. The story is about a boy called Greg and his Dad buys a dog because of a witty reason you will find in the book. I would recommend it because it has funny moments and you wont get bored. My favourite part of the book was when Gregs Mum was trying to take a photo but she did not know which button to press.

Awful Auntie by David Walliams

An interesting , humourous yet dark book.

This book is about a girl called Stella who  has the right to Saxby  hall and must face danger to stop her aunt Alberta, who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

This book is action packed and will get your heart racing. Aparticularly good scene is when Alberta tells Stella how her parents died.

I recommend this book to people who aren’t easily scared.

In New York By Jacqueline Harvey

An tearful , funny , lively and adventure story making you feel all sorts of emotions.

Alice – Miranda is a smart girl , and when she hear’s that she’s going to New York she is so bubbly . But when her friends Jacinta and Millie hear that she is going to New York , they are really heart – broken and they wish that they could come with her.

I like Alice – Miranda because she acts like me and loves New York . Jacinta and Millie remind me of my best friends Seren and Precious because they are always there for me . I mainly like where it says ” A very small girl meets a very big city.”

I like this book because there are lots of emotions that happen during the story that make me feel as if I’am in the book and I want to read more . I recommend this for people age 9-11

Matilda By Roald Dahl

An adventurous, lively book that will keep you reading!

Matilda is a lovely, sharp and wily character. She enjoys reading and is really smart. Matilda’s parents are not as pleasant  and bright as there daughter. They always leave Matilda home alone even at the age of 3 this is because her dad goes to work, her mum goes to bingo and her brother goes to baseball practice.

Road Dahl was going to make Matilda a wicked child and her parents really nice, but decided to make Matilda the smart powerful one  and her parents the horrible, wicked ones. I agree with Road Dahl because Matilda is a lovely character and it wouldn’t be the same if she was mean and horrible.

The theme of this book is friendship and perseverance, because Matilda perseveres with Mrs Trenchball always on her case. Matilda makes lots of new friends at her New school.Miss Trenchball reminds me of  Mrs Twit. I recommend  this book to anyone who loves adventures and lively mysterious books.

Radio Boy: The revenge of Grandad, By Christian O’ Connell

Its a hilarious story with odd characters and great jokes to keep you going!

A young boy named Spike, who loves all things about radio, had started up a radio station in his garden shed with his two friends Artie and Holly. Everything was going well for them until spikes grandad Ray asked to join the show!

Christian O’Connell added  very intreresting and funny characters to his book, even though they are weird they still fit into the real world setting. An example of a funny character is the head teacher with a face like a fish, and the grandad who believes he is the best at everything… But he really isn’t! Characters like this make very funny and entertaining scenes.

The themes of this book is about family and acceptance, because spike had to learn  to help his grandad and the rest of his family.

I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys hilarious books with fun characters! I think that the first book was better that this one but they are both still very good!

This book if full of happiness and sadness, this is the type of book I would choose.

This author is very talented by the way he wrote the book as a result describing the way they move also known as shon not tell . MY favorite character is mike because he has a great personality .

I really like this book because at the end they persevere and work as a team wich is important

Anyone who trusts my opinion should read the book and even if you don’t want to it’s ready for you .

This is a book about a boy called Joe. who has a dad that is very rich. For his birthday he got £1.000.000 for his birthday, he has loads of trainers and gets £100.000 for pocket money every week. I forgot to say he has a race track in his garden. But one thing Joe has no friends because he told everyone his dad makes money out of loo rolls! My favourite character is Bob because he is fat and funny. He is fat and funny because he wore his pants and a vest is the cross school run and he is smaller compaired to the other kids.
