Alex Rider Eagle Strike by Anthony Horowitz

An ingenious, fast paced adventure book filled with MI6 action.

Fourteen year old Alex Rider  is having trouble keeping himself out of MI6 life. He lives with his carer Jack Starbright after his parents died in a fatal plane crash….Well at least that’s  what he thinks!!This book is where fourteen year old Alex Rider has just ninety minutes to save the world!

In my opinion if you like action packed books this is your book, it has a surprise around every corner of the page.

In this book Alex is my favorite character because he always manages to capture his enemies He’s really cool and is always looking out for his friends.

I would definitely recommend this book to people who like books filled with action and like books about spies. This is your book!!!

Wonder by R.J. Palacio

An emotional but entertaining book about how to treat others. Told from the people around August point of view.

A young ten year old boy; August Pullman, has never been to school due to a terrible face abnormality. Now he’s finally going to a real school, can he prove to everyone inside he’s just an ordinary child? Joining school in 5th grade, students and teachers are surprised when they see Augusts face,  there  questions and mean names for August  don’t go unnoticed. though others don’t know it august is funny, friendly, trustworthy, kind boy.

This book has some funny aspects such as the principles name; Mr. Tushman, and Mr and Mrs Pullmans collage tutor; Mrs Butt. It is quite sad when August describes his face.

The themes of Wonder are friendship and courage. I recommend this book for people who like funny but touching stories.

The Gloriumptious world of Roald Dahl. By Roald Dahl

An intriguing scrap book, with extracts from story’s  characters and ‘ behind the scene’ notes

This book has extracts of dialog and details from nearly every story Roald Dahl has written including characters and their back story’s. My favorite extract is about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I like it because it says in his first draft it was going to be written as a diary! Also, in the first draft all of the characters where different! They where; Augustus Pottle, Miranda Grape and Violet Strabmist.

Another bit I enjoyed was about Matilda, a young inelegant child with horrible parents. Although,  first of all Roald was thinking about making Matilda the mean one and her parents the nice ones.  I would defiantly recommend this book to lovers of Roald Dahl and David Walliams, as they both have similar styles of writing.

Also I really like the illustrations in the book done by Quentin Blake, I like them because you can reconise their personality’s just by looking at them!

Dork Diary: Once upon a Dork By Rachel Renee Russell

A comical funny and cringy  book!

Once Upon A Dork is such an amusing and cringy  book for example when she meets a guy she is very awkward around him.  I like the fact that it is in a diary because it makes it more exciting and it makes it easier to read. It’s easy to read and it is entertaining on each page . The illustrations are amazing and very detailed. It’s written in first person .

The main character is Nicky Maxwel , she has a very embarrassing life. Her enemy knocks her out with a ball . Nicky starts imagining that she is in a princess fairy land !

This book is good for people who like Diary of the Wimpy kid. This book is suitable for age 7-12. I really recommend this book as it is very entertaining and dramatic.

The Action Bible by Sergio Cariello

This book is just a Bible but in a comic book style. although it is based on real life it also has some made up creatures in it . For example in Jonah and the whale it has a sea monster in it!

I think this book is much more  interesting than the normal Bible , because all of it is action and the pages are full of pictures. This  book will sure keep you entertained with all of the action .

I recommend this book to people who want to learn about Christianity in a  fun way

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

This story is the second book of three books in the series. This book is about when Percy goes back to school. Some strange things happen, but when he heads back to Camp Half Blood, he gets some disappointing news.

I personally like this book better than the others in the series because it is an action packed book with lots of good words to keep the reader interested.

The plot of the story is that Grover goes missing and Percy must find him. Percy is an ordinary boy but he is also a half blood, it means that they’re half God, half human. He can control water with his mind. My favourite part of the book is when Percy plays dodgeball with Giants!

The theme of this book is that Percy has to find a Balance between being an ordinary boy and the son of Poseidon.

I would recommend this book to other people because it is very enjoyable especially if you like action.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Third Wheel by Jeff Kinney

This book is about a wimpy kid called Greg.

Love is in the air-but what does that means for Greg? After some school council girls change a mixed motorbike/wrestling match into a prom, Greg is worried he won’t get a date. His best friend Rowley has the same feeling. Greg thinks that’s not a big deal. Greg just gives up. But then unexpected twist happens, giving him a date. My favourite part of the book is when the headteacher gets pantsed.

If you like Dork Diaries, you will love dairy of a wimpy kid. I would recommend this to ages 9-11.  Also if parents are looking for a book about romance for their children.

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID THE GETAWAY/BY JEFF KINNEY

This book is really hilarious and funny with lots of lively action.

A boy called Greg goes on  holiday with his family and his flight got delayed, so he is really anxious about what will happen after when he gets on the plane. This book is full of fun and  illustrations to show what Greg is doing. He really hates his brother Rodrick, who always gets on his nerves, and always gets Greg into trouble. This always happens to me and my brother, we always argue.

I would thoroughly recommend this to age 9 to 11 year olds. It’s a bit like Gregs family. if you read the book, you will find it really amusing.

Bad Dad by David Walliams

A comical, gripping and loving book filled with exiting turns and intelligent plots.

Bad Dad is a story about a family that start out rich, but  then every thing falls apart. The towns three greatest criminals find a way to get Franks loving father in to prison. But Franks has a plain to get him out!

David Walliams is very good at writing in a funny style, one example of this is when Auntie Flip reads her poems. My favourite character is Raj the newsagents. He is very nice to Frank and his products are gone off and priced to high!  I particularly like the part where they went into the well. There are meany breathtaking moments in this book, like the police chase. Through the story David Walliams explores the theme of family. For example when the family splits up on farther day . I really enjoyed reading  this book because it gets me on the edge of my seat.

I would thoroughly recommend this book to people the age of 9 and up.

Spynosaur! by Guy Bass

Action! Adventure! Dinosaurs in dresses?

This book is HILARIOUS while keeping the nail-biting, chair-gripping drama intact. Egghead Ergo Ego is quite a stupid villain whereas charming Spynosaur is incredibly clever, but cracks puns that his daughter, Amber, absolutely dreads.

It was amusing when Spynosaur met the King of Italy in a cocktail dress. An exciting part was when there was a speedboat chase through the tranquil canals of Venice. I like the way Guy Bass made a perfect balance between humour and action, which is something I like. There is also two sequels called ‘Spynosaur VS Goldenclaw’ and ‘Spynosaur: The Spy’s the Limit!’. It’s an excellent book and I love the second one too.

I would highly recommend this book for the 9-11 age group and would be good competition for the Alex Rider series. This is a must for people who like the spy genre.
