A hilarious book with funny characters that will keep you reading for hours

I think Jeff Kinney is very talented in writing .she can make you wonder all sorts of things and make things so real. I like this book because Greg is a lot like me. It is a good book because it is very funny and can keep you interested. My favourite character is Greg because he is always in trouble or doing something silly. This book will keep you reading and once you start you can not stop.

The Ice Monster by David Walliams

A heart-warming story set in Victorian times about a 10-year-old orphan and a 10,000 year old mammoth!

One day, Elsie (an orphan) decides to leave her orphanage to live on the streets of London. Once she hears about the Wolly Mammoth, she wants to bring it back to it’s home, The North Pole! This mammoth has been dead in Ice for around 10,000 years. But one character ( Lady Buckshot ) wants to kill, stuff, and put the poor mammoth on display! With the help of a few friends, Elsie manages to bring the mammoth home safely.

This book has good vocabulary. It’s really funny and will make you want to read more. This book would be for year 4 and over. If you like adventures, (and a little bit of laughter) you are sure to enjoy this book.

The Medusa Project : The Set-Up by Sophie McKenzie

An adventurous book that can keep you hooked for hours!

The Medusa Project is a series of books that are written by an author called Sophie McKenzie. The Medusa Project is about 4 teenagers and when they were babies there mothers got injected with a gene called the “Medusa”. This injection gave them special powers such as telekinesis , telepathically , precognition and protection from harm. The main protagonist is a boy called Nico. His main task is to find the last person with the Medusa Gene.

My favourite character is Nico because he can move items, people and buildings without touching them. Sophie McKenzie is very good at keeping readers interested in her books. My favourite action scene is when they run from Jack and Nico makes the building fall but Ketty is on the other side of the rubble. I particularly enjoyed the part where Nico has to find the last person with the Medusa gene. Each person who has the Medusa gene has a code name, e.g Cobra, Viper. This book is funny, adventurous and action-packed. I enjoyed reading this because it’s full of magic.

The Medusa Project is a great book and I love it! If you enjoy Harry Potter, then you will enjoy The Medusa Project. I recommend this book to Year 5s and 6s. I would hope you love it if you read it

Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Getaway By Jeff Kinney

An hilarious book full of jokes and amazing adventures!

When the Heffley family decide they need a break, they escape to a tropical resort for some much-needed rest and relaxation. But the Heffley family soon discover that paradise wasn’t so good as they thought. Sun poisoning, stomach infections and venomous creatures try to spoil the Heffley’s holiday. Will this family trip turn in to a disaster or can it be saved?

I think that this book is amazing because it has really funny jokes and and I could really picture what was happening even though there were already pictures. My favourite character is Gregg because I could really relate to him. Jeff Kinney is a very talented writer. He uses words very carefully so it really effects his writing in a good way. I also liked the way that Gregg is so clumsy and stupid so he makes the book really funny.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid-The Getaway is a very enjoyable tale. I would recommend this book for pupils from year 4 to 6. If you like story’s that you can relate to, this is the book for you.

The Everything Machine b Ally Kennan

This is a story about a machine and the machine is called the Everything Machine.

This story is about a girl and a boy called Olly and Stevie. They get a delivery which isn’t theirs but they kept the machine. They asked for a never ending supply of sweets and a swimming pool in the shed, for starters. They even asked for a Dad but even better – a robot dad. They didn’t tell their Mum and Dad about the machine because they wanted to keep it a secret.

My favourite characters are Olly and Stevie because they are the main characters and they find the machine that can get anything and everything. As I read this book I felt happy because its a nice book and I laughed a bit along the way. I really enjoyed reading this book because they asked for a swimming pool and I love swimming. I liked the part where they asked for a robot dad and its really cool.

I would recommend this book to Year 5’s and Year 6’s because its a big book and it might be hard words in Year 4 and under.

Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo

An emotional, fun and heart warming book

Kensuke’s Kingdom is a story about a boy called Michael who goes on a trip around the world with his parents and his dog ‘Stella Artois’ in a little boat called ‘The Peggy Sue’. The story starts when Michael goes overboard…

This book is full of action and emotion, Michael Morpurgo is very good at making the reader picture the scenes in their heads. An example of this was when the author described the scene where Michael got caught up by a jellyfish, because he put so much detail in it. My favourite character is Kensuke, because he seems like a kind and caring man: even though he does not know Michael, Kensuke still gave him food. There are many emotional moments, such as when Kensuke explained his past and why he was on the island.

I would highly recommend this to people aged 9 and over. If you enjoy reading or listening to a book then you’ll love this book.

The Witches By Roald Dahl

A magical, creepy story about a boy called Luke, finding out the dark secrets of the Witches.

In fairy tales witches wear black hats and ride on brooms. Not in this book. Every witch just wears ordinary clothes and lives in ordinary houses but there is a way to spot a witch. Luke couldn’t understand, but now he keeps an eye on every woman he sees. His grandmother told him this. For an example witches always wears gloves over there disgraceful hand and their eyes are the colour purple. There feet are also horrid as well but that’s not it. Witches also wear wigs to hide there horrible bald head. But there is one witch who covers something else. Find out.

I enjoyed this book because it felt like I was Luke. As you read you feel amazed and a bit spooked. Roald Dahl is very good at describing the charactors and buildings. For example, the small black, creature approached it’s prey. My favourite charactor is Luke because he makes the same decisions I would make; such as when he goes into the grand high witches room he sneeks around and he makes the right moves at the right times, just like I would. I really enjoyed reading this book because there are some interesting and tricky words in there.

Diary of the Wimpy Kid: Dog Day by Jeff Kinney

This book is about a boy in high school and he has only has one friend called Rowely. Its a very easy book to read, and has lots of illustrations. its a hilarious book and always has some sort of joke. Its written in a diary format and people who have read Dork Diaries might like this book. The story is about a boy called Greg and his Dad buys a dog because of a witty reason you will find in the book. I would recommend it because it has funny moments and you wont get bored. My favourite part of the book was when Gregs Mum was trying to take a photo but she did not know which button to press.

Awful Auntie by David Walliams

An interesting , humourous yet dark book.

This book is about a girl called Stella who  has the right to Saxby  hall and must face danger to stop her aunt Alberta, who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

This book is action packed and will get your heart racing. Aparticularly good scene is when Alberta tells Stella how her parents died.

I recommend this book to people who aren’t easily scared.

In New York By Jacqueline Harvey

An tearful , funny , lively and adventure story making you feel all sorts of emotions.

Alice – Miranda is a smart girl , and when she hear’s that she’s going to New York she is so bubbly . But when her friends Jacinta and Millie hear that she is going to New York , they are really heart – broken and they wish that they could come with her.

I like Alice – Miranda because she acts like me and loves New York . Jacinta and Millie remind me of my best friends Seren and Precious because they are always there for me . I mainly like where it says ” A very small girl meets a very big city.”

I like this book because there are lots of emotions that happen during the story that make me feel as if I’am in the book and I want to read more . I recommend this for people age 9-11
